I can do my round off fine on floor, and even when I was waiting to try it I didn't think it would be too bad, but when I was actually going to do it, I got really scared. I don't even know what of, since she was there to spot me, but I end up keeping my legs bent when I kick over, instead of keeping them straight. Are there any things I could practice at home to get over that fear, and straighten my legs?
And also, she had us working on arabesques on the high beam. Again, if I were to do this on floor its fine. But once I'm up on beam, I start to get nervous and don't do as best as I could. How can I get myself to be not-so afraid of beam?
And one last thing! haha, I need help with my handstand. :/ If I take a step into it, its fine. But shes trying to make us just stand and kick up into it without taking a step. I always end up getting the leg I'm kicking with all the way up, but then my other leg stays bent the whole time. What should I do about this?
Sorry for this really long post!! Its been a long time since I've been on here. :/ haha(: Thank you soooo much!
-gymnastics4everAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4561066617281884151.post-25725732513653642602010-10-31T11:57:00.018-07:002010-10-31T11:57:00.018-07:00awhh thankss!! that means a lot!! and omg!!! you s...awhh thankss!! that means a lot!! and omg!!! you sound so goodd!!!! imma 4 too! but im competing 4 this year but i might go to 6 next year if i get all my skills!!! i have so much trouble with my ro bhs!!! i think so hard about i LITERALLY roll into a ball after my ro!!! its so scary!!! but i almost have my kippp!!(: but u sound really good(: my hardest skills on floor are: front handspring and then a front tuck/pike beam: cartwheel and a back walkover on floor beam oh! and a front tuck dismount vault: a partial front handspring and bars: baby giant, sole circle then jump to high bar..and i think a tucked fly away (like i know i could do it but my coach wont let me) haha[:gymnasticsluvernoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4561066617281884151.post-29033118163517730972010-10-30T20:44:30.069-07:002010-10-30T20:44:30.069-07:00haha aw! whats youre yahoo? :) aw thats no fun! im...haha aw! whats youre yahoo? :) aw thats no fun! im level four, going five in dec :) ahaha, not alot of hard skills. my gym doesnt really uptrain harder skills in like level six and seven untill youre like in a level below it.. ): on bars liiikeee, nothing..if you consider the squat on a skill :P roundoffbackhandspringx2 on floorrr, uhhm front handspring vaultt, backwalkover on balance beam :P andd front layoutt and tucks on ttrampoline. compared to you i soundd like a level too! hahaha :Pcallie :Dnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4561066617281884151.post-88263206330128044382010-10-28T18:03:46.343-07:002010-10-28T18:03:46.343-07:00haha sorry callie!! i dontt!! i only have a yahoo!...haha sorry callie!! i dontt!! i only have a yahoo!! sorryy!!! but congrats on everything! i had a bad practice on tues and today thanks to round off bhs and my stupid ankle!!! but you sound good! what level r u?! and what are ur hardest skills on each event?!gymnasticsluvernoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4561066617281884151.post-6587413686512635442010-10-28T17:24:21.135-07:002010-10-28T17:24:21.135-07:00so at practice todaay, we worked on kips ( i did a...so at practice todaay, we worked on kips ( i did anyway) andd we only worked on them a few times like three, and she said she wasnt really doing anything when she spotted me and i'd have it really soon :)! my standing backhandspring is also getting better, just have to jump higher :P andd i also beatt my coach at front tuck stick contest on the trampoline :) on tuesday i had a really AWFUL practice so its was really encouraging to go out of the gym not feeling frustrated and upset :* but yeahh :c gymnasticsluver do you have msn or aiim? you seem cooll ! :Dcaallie! :Dnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4561066617281884151.post-77132825833304040612010-10-27T18:50:40.537-07:002010-10-27T18:50:40.537-07:00new post pleaseE??(: like kip tips, the hardest sk...new post pleaseE??(: like kip tips, the hardest skills to get in compulsery and elite? maybe something like that? and advice on how to eat healthy like a gymnast should? lol thanks!!gymnasticsluvernoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4561066617281884151.post-54237409999231450632010-10-24T16:36:57.173-07:002010-10-24T16:36:57.173-07:00thanks so much!! that really inspires me that i DO...thanks so much!! that really inspires me that i DO have chance! It's BEYOND frus...I know exactly what you mean. It's BEYOND frustrating that people don't understand how hard gymnasts work. But our job as competitive gymnasts is to make what we do look effortless, so try to think of it that way. If somebody tells you, "I could do that. It looks so easy," then you've done your job. You've made one of the most difficult things in the world look easy because you've done it over and over and over again until it looks really beautiful. That's pretty cool :)

I know how passionate you are about the sport, and I think that's so awesome. Keep doing what you love and striving for your goal!!! I really look up to people who can put so much focus and determination into a goal, even if it sometimes seems like a long-shot. I really think perseverance is the #1 characteristic that successful people possess. I think you DO have a shot, to be honest, and even if you don't end up exactly where you want to, you'll be amazed looking back on your years as a gymnast and realizing that the journey, rather than the final destination, was the most important part. I feel like even though I wasn't able to become and elite like I wanted to, I learned so much in gymnastics and it'll always be a part of my life. That's why I coach now, and I hope to own a gym someday. It stays with you forever. :)

Sorry for the long and dramatic pep talk, but I hope you know that even though I don't know you personally, I believe in what you can do! :DHakuna Matatahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11949293294222973045noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4561066617281884151.post-87265531318825170862010-10-24T14:35:37.049-07:002010-10-24T14:35:37.049-07:00so i just thought id tell you something:
Ever sinc...so i just thought id tell you something:
Ever since i started gymnastics all ive wanted to be an elite gymnast, i started very late but im so determined to accomplish things its not even funny. The only thing i want in my life is to win a gold medal at a big competition. I feel that it'll never come true. I know that if i work hard and never give up i might have a shot. I love gymnastics more than anything. I wish i could live at the gym. I love everything about it. I love the beauty and grace of it. It makes me wanna cartwheel a person in the face when they say gymnastics isnt hard. They dont know what we go through everyday. It makes me really mad how people don't realize how hard we work. And yet we do it for a total of a like a 6 minute show. I love gymnastics so much. Do you havev any advice on how to get closer to acheiving my goal? im sorry that i typed all that but i thought you should know how passionate i am aabout this amazing gourgeous sportgymnasticsluvernoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4561066617281884151.post-60659997986667295092010-10-23T11:41:57.685-07:002010-10-23T11:41:57.685-07:00i like callie's idea for the hardest skills on...i like callie's idea for the hardest skills on each event from 5-7(: lol and thanks so much! it is hard to realize how good we are. The kip is also a matter of timing so definitely keep working on the strength but if you can't get it right away don't get discouraged!

@gymnsticsluver - I know how that goes :/ You really have to push yourself to get back up there and do it again despite your fear. Think positively, visualize yourself doing it well, and just go for it. But the quick fix (@anonymous - what's your name?) for your BHS issue is just working on the snap down. Try some drills where you kick up into a handstand on a panel mat and then snap down into a good hollow and get a rebound out of it.

@gymnasticsluver - That's the tough part. At this point, for you, it's basically just getting down the timing and the feel for it. That seems to be something that a lot of the blog readers are working on right now, so I'll work on that post soon :)

@gymnasticsluver - First of all, I love your story!!! Thanks for sending it!! The last three pages wouldn't load but I just had fun reading what was there :) It was awesome!
