So you think you're too old to start gymnastics?

Q: Am I too old to start gymnastics now?

So maybe it wouldn't be the best idea for my 80-year-old grandmother to get involved in gymnastics... But too many of you out there worry about being "too old." If you are 13, 14, 15, or even 20, you are NOT too old to get into recreational gymnastics classes. I REPEAT: You are NOT too old! You may be older than the other kids in your class, but don't let that hold you back. The gym I used to go to held adult (18+) recreational gymnastics classes once or twice a week for people who decided a little later on that they wanted to try out the sport, and they all had a great time. Just because you're a little older doesn't mean that you can't be successful and enjoy the sport. Sure, you probably won't be an Olympian or even a level 7, but who cares! Do what you love, no matter what. I strongly encourage anyone and everyone to get involved in this sport. If nothing else, it will earn you a great work ethic, a new leotard, and some wonderful friends.

  1. So I started at 11 and now am a level 3 at 12 do I have a chance at an elite level? Gymnastics is my passion!!! I love gymnastics!!! I would work in the gym 24 hours if I had too!!! I love it!! I wanna be an elite but do I have a chance? Oh, I also have 4, 5, and 6 skills on all different events. So were allowed to skip levels!

  4. Thank you! I'm glad you like it. Hopefully it helps a couple of people out :) I'm going through gymnastics withdrawals right now so that was mainly the reason for the creation of this blog lol. People always tell me, "write what you know," and gymnastics is really all I know inside and out, so... :D

  5. sooo, i just started gymnastics like 2 days ago, and am only taking a one hour recreational class a week. I'm 14 and am currently in level 2...do I have a chance to ever catch up to people my age? And do I have a chance at competing? Not elite or anything, just maybe like, level 4 or 5? And how long would that take me?
This blog is really helpful by the way!(:

When i was like 11 years old i was a level 7, so maybe i'll be able to get there again, cause i once already was good. i will go with a friend of mine to her class and see whether i'm really as enthousiastic as i tell myself i am. I'm really excited and much love and thanks for your answer. xx rosa.
